Parker's Experience on How a Canadian Applies for a Working Holiday Visa in France from Vancouver
(January 2018)
1) I was in western Canada, (Alberta) so I went the website of the French Consulate in Vancouver ( https://vancouver.consulfrance.org/Youth-Exchange-Agreement-Bienvenue-en-France )
2) to download "3D visa application kit"
3) fill out the form - you must put in an address that you will be going to when you first arrive. According to the lady at the embassy, this can be a hotel or hostel. I put in a hotel address for my first night.
4) Make sure you meet the all the travel requirements. These are listed on page 3 of application kit.
i) the covering letter was very easy. I just wrote a couple short paragraphs about the reasons I wanted to visit.
ii) I had a terrible time with insurance. I was told that "$1Million CAD for medical emergencies" I purchased Canuck Voyage Travel Medical Insurance from Ingle International and the embassy accepted this.
**please note- I am not associated with Ingle international and have not been paid or rewarded to use their name. I have not have to make a claim from them so I am unaware of the quality of their product
5) Booking an appointment:
information on booking: https://vancouver.consulfrance.org/Making-an-appointment
the last line on the page has an associated link
- follow the directions and don't forget to bring the receipt at the end so that you can get into the embassy!

6) You get your visa in the form of a sticker/stamp on the inside of your passport.
That is everything! Hope everyone has a lovely trip. I heard on the BBC this morning that France is the most popular tourist destination in the world followed by Spain. Who knew! Following updates on photos, finding housing, work, etc will follow.
Peace!
